All dressed up for Easter...

We had a nice Easter this past weekend. Here are a few pictures of Elias all dressed up. I loved seeing all the kids dressed up so nice and cute on Easter Sunday. Even though I love it--- It actually really cracks me at the same time. We were in the crawlers class serving on Sunday and half of the kids could hardly get around because of their outfits. I have come to the realization that dressing our kids up in cute outfits is for our pure enjoyment---- and to see everyone else oohh and ahh over our adorable kids. I know that Elias could care less about dressing up and looking cute----and actually it probably annoys him and holds him down from getting around well. Anyway...I enjoy dressing him up to look like a cute little boy on special occasions and I usually take lots of pictures which probably annoys him too. But luckily for him this whole scene doesn't happen often because on most days here in the Hitchcock household you will find Elias and I dressed in comfy clothes and sweat pants..

Elias' 1st Birthday Party

It is hard to believe that our little baby boy is now one year old. It seems like just yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital. He was so tiny, and now, well lets just say he is a little bit bigger now. It is amazing how much your life can change in just one year. It is amazing how one little person can change you so quickly and have such an impact on your thoughts and actions. Trisha and I love him more every day and are so glad that God blessed us with him. It has been so much fun to watch him grow over the past year. We have seen him learn to sit up, roll over, talk(even though we don't know what he is saying), crawl, clap, and even the beginnings of waving goodbye. I realize now how love can grow over time. Through these experiences and through developing relationships with Elias our love has grown for him more every day, just as my love for Trisha has grown over the years, and just how my love for God has grown. With each experience, and each moment that we commit ourselves more fully to one another we are all becoming more dependent on each other. It is truly awesome to witness and be a part of. I have been so blessed in a million ways and don't know why. Here are some pictures from Elias' big day. Enjoy!

Elias didn't make a total mess, but he did put a couple decent size globs in his mouth. Who knew that cake was an acquired taste?? I am sure his opinion of cake will change soon enough.

One of the toys Elias got the biggest reaction out of, wasn't a toy at all. It was the newspaper his wooden cars were wrapped in! Thanks for the cars Steve, they are awesome!

Isaac, Elias, and Kennedy all hard at work investigating Elias' new toys. This is a monumental moment in that I am sure there is a picture somewhere of Aaron and I not much older than this playing with toys at someones birthday party, and now we are watching our kids do it. My how time flies.

So, this is pretty funny. We open up a gift for Elias and it is this pink and purple car. It was supposed to be a red and blue one. Todd barely let me take the picture as he said this was not appropriate. Needless to say Todd exchaned it for the "boy" one the next day.
Elias got this pool full of balls and loves playing in it. what a great idea!!

Making Elias' Birthday Cake!!

Elias' first birthday is less then a week away!!! It is so hard to believe!! His birthday party is this Saturday and I decided I would take on the task of making his cake. I was definitely a little scared, but it turned out better then I could have ever imagined!! My friend Christy came over (who is a professional) to give me lessons on decorating, which I was so thankful for. I could have never done it without her guided expertise along the way. Below are some pictures from today, but you will have to wait until after the party to see the final product. I have to keep it a surprise!!! :) All this work and I will be sad when we cut and eat it! I guess that comes with the territory....

Spring is coming!!!

We are so excited for spring and warm weather....and it is hopefully just right around the corner!! I love the outdoors and I cannot wait to introduce this new world to Elias. Now that he is older he truly will be able to explore it for the first time. Today we were able to get a glimpse of what is coming and it was so refreshing. We sat outside for awhile and Elias just smiled and loved it. The only problem was that he kept trying to eat the rocks and mulch. :) When will he stop putting everything in his mouth and trying to eat it?!? ;)

I had to add this picture as it just makes me laugh. Maybe next time instead of taking pictures and laughing we should get it out of his mouth!! :)

Getting Around...

As you can see from these pictures Elias is really enjoying being able to get around these days. Here are several pictures from the last few weeks as I have been enjoying my new camera. The other day Todd went into the attic and found this and a few other big boy toys that a friend had passed down before Elias was born. It was perfect timing as we were starting to pack up the baby toys he wasn't interested in anymore. He has really enjoyed riding this little car all around!
